Medical Disclaimer
Please read this disclaimer carefully
This Medical Disclaimer is part of our Terms of Use. By using https://mediconnex.com.cn (the "Website") or engaging any service provided by MediConnex HongKong Limited (Hong Kong Business Registration Number 80524054, "MediConnex", "we"), you confirm you have read and understood it.
1. We are not a medical provider
MediConnex is a medical concierge and introduction agency. We help adults arrange travel to Mainland China for planned medical procedures at hospitals and clinics that hold the appropriate licences under the laws of the People's Republic of China (each, a "Treatment Provider").
Legal entity (full details): MediConnex HongKong Limited (Traditional Chinese: 四海雲醫香港有限公司). Hong Kong Business Registration Number: 80524054. Company type: Private Company Limited by Shares. Date of incorporation: 2 June 2026. Current status: Live (still registered).
We do not: - diagnose, examine, treat, prescribe for, or assess any condition; - give medical, dental, surgical, ophthalmic, vascular, pharmaceutical, or psychological advice; - supervise, employ, or control any medical professional; - own, operate, or control any hospital or clinic; - represent that any procedure is suitable, safe, or appropriate for you; - guarantee any clinical outcome.
Our staff are coordinators, not clinicians. Where any of our staff happen to hold a medical qualification, they are not acting in a clinical capacity when working for MediConnex.
2. Information on the Website is for general information only
All content on the Website — including descriptions of procedures, hospitals, indicative pricing, recovery times, comparative information about healthcare wait times or private fees in any country, case studies, and any blog or video content — is provided for general information only. It is not medical advice and must not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified medical professional.
You must not: - start, stop, delay, or alter any treatment based on information on the Website; - self-diagnose, self-treat, or self-prescribe based on information on the Website; - assume that a procedure described as suitable for "patients like you" is necessarily suitable for you; - assume that statistics or outcomes shown for one Treatment Provider apply to any other Treatment Provider or to you personally.
If you have concerns about your health, consult your primary care physician, your family doctor, your consultant, or another qualified medical professional in your country of residence before taking any action.
3. In an emergency
If you have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately. Examples (verify the current number applicable in the relevant jurisdiction before relying on it):
- in Mainland China: 120 (medical emergency)
- in many European countries and on mobile phones globally: 112
- in the United Kingdom: 999 (or 112)
- in the United States and Canada: 911
Do not use the Website, email, or any of our communication channels for emergencies. We do not monitor any channel in real time and cannot provide emergency assistance.
If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm or are in mental health crisis, please contact the relevant crisis helpline available in your country of residence.
4. Treatment Provider information — no duty to independently verify
All information about Treatment Providers (qualifications, accreditations, indicative pricing, equipment, outcomes, success rates, waiting times, clinician identity) is supplied to us by the Treatment Providers themselves.
We do not undertake to independently verify any such information and make no representation or warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, or currency. We accept no liability for any error in, or omission from, such information.
Good-faith correction on actual knowledge. Notwithstanding the above, if we obtain actual knowledge that any specific information published on the Website about a Treatment Provider is materially inaccurate, we will, within a reasonable time, either correct it or remove it from the Website. This commitment is limited to information of which we have actual knowledge of material inaccuracy; it does not impose any duty of inquiry, audit, monitoring, or independent verification, and does not constitute a warranty as to the accuracy of any other information.
You are responsible for verifying, before signing any Treatment Agreement and before incurring any non-recoverable cost, all of the following: - that the Treatment Provider holds the necessary licences for the procedure you intend to undergo; - that the named surgeon or clinician is qualified, experienced, and registered to perform that procedure; - that the procedure is suitable for your medical condition; - that you understand the risks, benefits, and alternatives; - that the price and inclusions match the quotation.
We will help you obtain copies of credentials and accreditations on request, and will help arrange a video consultation with the clinician before you commit. We strongly recommend you take up that offer.
5. The treatment relationship is between you and the Treatment Provider
When you proceed with a procedure: - you enter into a separate Treatment Agreement directly with the Treatment Provider; - the Treatment Agreement is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China; - the Treatment Provider — not MediConnex — is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, post-operative care, and clinical outcome; - any clinical complaint, claim for medical negligence, or claim relating to the standard of care must be made against the Treatment Provider, in accordance with the Treatment Agreement and PRC law.
MediConnex is not liable for the clinical or operational acts or omissions of the Treatment Provider.
Scope of our assistance in disputes. Our support is set out in clause 8 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy. In summary: we provide initial translation and liaison support free of charge for up to 14 days; any further support is provided only on your written request and is chargeable at our then-current hourly rates plus disbursements. We are not your legal representative and do not guarantee any outcome.
This clause does not affect: - our duty to take reasonable care and skill in performing our own coordination services; - any rights you have under mandatory consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded; - our liability for our own negligence under clause 11 of the Terms of Use, subject to the cap in clause 11.3.
6. Outcomes are not guaranteed
Medical procedures carry risks. Results vary depending on individual circumstances including age, general health, anatomy, lifestyle, and adherence to pre- and post-operative instructions.
- We make no representation, warranty, or guarantee as to the success, safety, comfort, recovery time, or aesthetic outcome of any procedure.
- Any testimonials, before-and-after images, case studies, or outcome statistics on the Website are illustrative of past experiences of specific individuals. They are not a prediction or promise of what you will experience.
- No information on the Website should be interpreted as a clinical promise or warranty.
7. Specific procedures we coordinate
Without limiting the general points above:
7.1 Cataract surgery
Risks include (without limitation): infection, posterior capsule opacification, retinal detachment, refractive surprise, dry eye, and rare loss of vision. Choice of intraocular lens (IOL) affects outcomes. Discuss risks, benefits, and lens options in detail with the surgeon at the Treatment Provider before consenting.
7.2 Health screening
A health screening identifies findings present at the time of testing. A negative result does not mean you will not develop a condition in future and does not replace ongoing medical care from your primary care physician. Some findings may require further investigation in your country of residence. Test results are issued by the Treatment Provider; we facilitate translation but do not interpret results.
7.3 Varicose vein treatment
Treatments (endothermal ablation, sclerotherapy, surgical ligation) carry risks including (without limitation): bruising, skin discolouration, deep vein thrombosis, nerve injury, recurrence. Suitability depends on the pattern and severity of disease confirmed by duplex ultrasound. Do not assume any single technique is suitable until the Treatment Provider has assessed you.
If we expand the procedures we coordinate, we will update this section.
8. Travel-related medical considerations
- Fitness to fly — long-haul flights after surgery carry an elevated risk of venous thromboembolism. The Treatment Provider will advise when it is safe to fly home.
- Insurance — most travel insurance policies exclude planned medical treatment. You must obtain appropriate medical-travel insurance separately. Please consult an authorised insurance broker in your country of residence to determine suitable cover; we do not select, recommend, or advise on cover.
- Continuity of care — your primary care physician may need to be informed for follow-up; we strongly recommend you do so. With your written consent we can share information with them.
- Vaccinations and entry requirements — check the latest Chinese visa and health entry requirements, and the travel-health guidance applicable in your country of residence, before you book.
9. Accuracy of information you give us
You must give us, and the Treatment Provider, accurate and complete information about your medical history, current medications, allergies, and lifestyle. Withholding or misrepresenting information may: - result in a procedure being unsafe for you; - result in the Treatment Provider declining to treat you; - void your travel and medical insurance; - be grounds for us to terminate the Concierge Agreement without refund, in accordance with the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
10. No doctor-patient relationship via the Website
Visiting the Website, reading any content on it, signing up for a newsletter, sending us an enquiry, or speaking to our coordinators does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and MediConnex or any of our staff. A doctor-patient relationship arises only when you formally engage a licensed clinician at a Treatment Provider.
11. Regulatory status
MediConnex HongKong Limited is a non-medical company registered in Hong Kong. We are not regulated by any medical regulator. Medical regulation applies to the Treatment Providers and to the clinicians who treat you; we will identify the relevant regulatory framework for any given Treatment Provider on request.
12. If you disagree with anything in this disclaimer
